The Mercedes 220SE was built 1961 in Stuttgart. This automobile classic, which was engineered by famous Béla Barényi, was the first series with front and rear crumple zones absorbing kinetic energy from impact - a milestone for the safety of cars. The iconic design was supervised by chef designer Karl Wilfert. The fintails, inspired by the american trend at those times and the upright headlights gave this Mercedes with the internal code W111 its significant character.
